Powder bathroom renovations

Types of bathroom renovations – powder room, three-piece bathroom, four-piece bathroom, and ensuites - Winnipeg Bathroom Renovations - Certified Aging-in-Place Renovators Winnipeg - All Canadian Renovations Ltd.Interested in a Winnipeg powder room renovation? Powder rooms are also sometimes called “guest bathrooms” or a “half baths.” They consist of two main elements; a sink, and a toilet. These bathrooms are usually located on the first floor of the home and are easily accessible to guests, hence the term guest bathroom.

Powder bathrooms are usually the smallest, so your options for renovations are somewhat limited. You can replace the sink and toilet and change the décor, flooring, and other materials, but you may not be able to do things like adding a shower or tub unless you have some room around the bathroom with which to adjust the room size.

Just because this bathroom is smaller doesn’t mean we need to sacrifice style. A recent interior design trend for powder rooms is to use texture, high contrasting materials, or visually impactful wallpaper to make the space outstanding.

Three-piece bathroom renovations

Types of bathroom renovations – powder room, three-piece bathroom, four-piece bathroom, and ensuites - Winnipeg Bathroom Renovations - Certified Aging-in-Place Renovators Winnipeg - All Canadian Renovations Ltd.A three-piece bathroom has three plumbing elements such as a sink, a toilet, and a shower or a bathtub. Of course, if the shower and bathtub are the same components, the bathroom is classified as a four-piece. Three-piece bathrooms will typically feature either a stand-up shower or a stand-alone tub.

Three-piece bathrooms can be considered a “full bath,” since they contain all the major plumbing fixtures required in a bathroom. During renovations, it’s common for the flooring, major fixtures, cabinetry, lighting, and other elements to be replaced too.

Another common home renovation project is turning a powder room into a three-piece bathroom with the addition of a shower or bathtub. This is a great way to add value and flexibility to your home. A basement bathroom for example, could be upgraded with a shower to let guests and family members have more options for bathing in the morning. The first step in this transformation is to ensure that you have the space to add either a shower or a tub. Our interior design skills will allow us to come up with creative, yet feasible solutions if your space allows for it.

Four-piece bathroom renovations

Types of bathroom renovations – powder room, three-piece bathroom, four-piece bathroom, and ensuites - Winnipeg Bathroom Renovations - Certified Aging-in-Place Renovators Winnipeg - All Canadian Renovations Ltd.Four-piece bathrooms contain a sink, tub, shower, and toilet. This is the most common configuration for master bathrooms and ensuite bathrooms, which we will talk about in the next section. Sometimes the bathtub and shower are combined whereas in other situations, the shower and tub may be separate. We’ve also seen four-piece bathrooms that include a sink, toilet, bidet, and bathtub or shower, or dual sinks (two), a toilet, and a bathtub or shower.

Common four-piece bathroom renovations and upgrades include swapping the tub and/or shower for modern models, adding a double sink, and replacing vanities for more storage space. During these bathroom renovations we frequently change out the flooring, add custom tile surround, new fixtures, exhaust fan, lighting, etc. Depending on the number of bathrooms in your home, your four-piece bathroom may be the main bathroom in your home. Other common bathroom upgrades include in-floor heating, accessibility features for aging-in-place, and deep-soaker jetted tubs.

We’ll gladly give you the bathroom of your dreams, but we usually recommend saving the fanciest of features for your ensuite bathroom – if your home has one.

Ensuite bathroom renovations

Types of bathroom renovations – powder room, three-piece bathroom, four-piece bathroom, and ensuites - Winnipeg Bathroom Renovations - Certified Aging-in-Place Renovators Winnipeg - All Canadian Renovations Ltd.Ensuite bathroom renovations can be the most complex and expensive of them all. However, all it takes is a little bit of planning and preparation for this type of bathroom renovation to go off without a hitch. At ACR, we love renovating ensuites, as they usually are created as a place of relaxation and luxury for our customers. As part of any ensuite bathroom renovation we commonly have:

  • Double sinks
  • A shower and a separate bathtub
  • A toilet
  • Bidet
  • In-floor heating
  • Steam showers
  • Over-sized vanities and large amounts of storage space

While the cost of renovating can be more than other bathrooms in your home, ensuite bathroom renovations add a lot of value to your home. Having a modernized ensuite bathroom is a highly desirable feature for homeowners.
