River’s Edge – Kitchen Renovation

The Issue

This client wanted to convert their basement bar into a near-industrial kitchen for their jams and perserves making and have a modern entertaining space for when company visits.

The Challenge

After consulting with the client several times we came up with a new design for the space. We tore out almost everything from the old bar space and started fresh. We custom-designed cabinetry with LED task underlighting throughout. The upper cabinets have a bi-fold lift for easier access and we used heavy-duty drawer hardware throughout to accommodate the kitchen appliances.

An island was used to create additional counter space and for an entertaining area. Matching quartz countertops were used on the island and other countertops. Bright 24″X24″ marble-look porcelain tiles were used for the walls. Pot lighting and overhead task lighting over the island were perfect to further brighten up this functional workspace.

A built-in industrial dishwasher and a farm sink made of SIL granite provided further functionality for this workspace. Floating shelves provide storage and a clean look while an accent shelf under the cabinets provides a space for spices, knick-knacks, and small tools. A gas stove with a minimal-look overhead venting completed the look and function of this high-use near-commercial kitchen.

The Result

This new high-fashion workspace is a favourite of the house. The client loved the touches that made the work space more functional while still visually designed to be inviting, open, and welcoming.
